Coolio's new album to be released soon14 May 2000:A lot of people are asking me what Coolio's been up to lately, it's been very quiet from Coolio's side. People wanna know what's happening with the new album, since now Coolio isn't on Tommy Boy records any longer.
The new album will be called Coolio.Com , The album's release date is set to July 1st.
The 1st 100,000 copies will be sold on the website Coolio.com via different links from other websites. New Coolio Track Released as MP313 Oct 1999:Coolio is currently finishing up the work on his 4th album, with the title "Dead Man Walking". The title track from this album is now available for free download in the popular MP3-format (legally, that is) from www.rapstation.com. Download Dead Man Walking.mp3 Personally, I think it's a shame Coolio doesn't recognize this (my) site for what it is: THE nr 1 website for Coolio fans. He could've at least contacted me so he could release it via this site. I'm _this_ close from shuting down The Coolio Fanpage. 4 years of true hard work, free advertising for the artist Coolio is apparently not worth something. Note that neither this site nor I are affiliated with RapStation.com Disturbing news about Coolio?13 Oct 1999:I recieved a very intresting e-mail from Malika Bradford, a female MC who co-wrote and did duetts with Coolio on his Gangsta's Paradise-album.
My name is Malika and I wrote two entire songs one on each album. These
would include "Cruisin" on Gangster paradise and "Get Up Get Down". Just for your information we (PS,leik-rat,Rass Kass, and myself all
collaborated with coolio and aided him in writing the gangster paradise album)
and since he ditched us for new artists that are not as talented, he has not
had the level of success he once had.
We as his crew have never been yes people. We saw a lot of selfishness on Coolio's
end and instead of going quietly, we expressed our concerns to him, which promptly
led to each of us being fired under cruel circumstances.
Peace
My comment:
Coolio hosting TV-show on BET13 Oct 1999:Coolio is hosting a show called "Madd Sports" on BET (Black Entertainment Television). Check out MSBET.Com for more info. Coolio Case Settled by TV Judge Joe BrownAs we previously reported, two musicians who served in Coolio's band during his recent tour have filed suit against him. Daniel Crawford andIshmael Ferguson claimed that Coolio had yet to pay them for their work in a suit filed in Los Angeles Municipal Court on Friday (September 3).
Crawford and Ferguson, both members of the group Wylde Bunch, were injured
when one of the three tour vans flipped over on Interstate 5 just north of
Sacramento in early June. The rest of the tour was cancelled as a result While Coolio was not present for the proceedings, his wife and manager, Josefa Salinas, represented him. The show is expected to air sometime next month.

Thursday, July 8, 1999 Coolio To Serve 10 Days In Jail On Gun ChargeGrammy-winning rapper also ordered to fulfill community service after guilty plea.LOS ANGELES - Coolio pleaded guilty to a gun-possession charge in a Torrance, Calif., courtroom Wednesday and was sentenced to serve 10 days in jail and 40 hours of community service. The jail time and community service are conditions of the two-years' probation the rapper received from Judge Andrew Kauffman in Torrance Superior Court. The charge stems from the wild-haired MC's arrest last September, in which police said they found an unloaded gun, a separate ammunition cartridge and a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle. The drug charge later was dropped. Police say they stopped the rapper because he was driving his sport utility vehicle on the wrong side of the road. Coolio pleaded no contest to the charge in March, but changed his plea to not guilty after considering Judge James R. Brandlin's proposed sentence. Brandlin had suggested that Coolio attend an autopsy of a youth killed by gunfire in addition to serving 10 days in jail and performing 40 hours of community service. "I didn't expect [the] jail time," Coolio said then. "Ten days isn't a long time, but any time in jail is too long." District Attorney Alexis De L. Garza said she did not seek the autopsy requirement for Wednesday's settlement. "We didn't see it as something that had to be done," she said. The rapper has until Sept. 7 to serve his jail time, according to court clerk Ruth Gilliland. Coolio's attorney, Steven K. Hauser, did not immediately return calls for comment on his client's decision to plead guilty in the case. Last month Coolio canceled the remaining dates of his 18-City-Mission tour after a van accident seriously injured two members of his backing band. The entourage was en route to a show at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco when one of the three vans transporting the rapper and his band flipped over about 40 miles north of Sacramento. "This is the first time in my career I have had a near-death experience," Coolio said in a statement. "When the van was flipping over I thought we were history." Coolio established himself with his 1994 debut LP Like a Thief, featuring such hits as "Fantastic Voyage" (RealAudio excerpt), and the 1995 triple-platinum follow-up, Gangsta's Paradise, which included "1-2-3-4 (Sumpin' New)" (RealAudio excerpt) and the Grammy-winning title track. The MC plans to release his fourth album, Dead Man Walkin, later this summer, according to his management office.

June 25, 1999 Coolio Crash ControversyAs reported on June 10th (Coolio and Crew In Car Accident) Coolio and his entourage were involved in a car accident during their tour, but the story doesn't end there. The two musicians hurt in the accident were keyboard player Daniel Crawford and drummer Ishmael Ferguson, who have mad medical bills to pay. The Wylde Bunch, a group that was on the tour, have spoken up and said that everything that Coolio said in his press release wasn't true and that compensation for the accident and tour have not been met. Lamont Patterson, co-manager of the Wylde Bunch said that he is very disappointed in Coolio and his camp and alleges that the injured musicians were in a van driven by a 19-year-old and that it was traveling at speeds well over 65 miles per hour. "However, the most confusing part of the matter is when I read in press reports that Coolio had a 'near-death experience' from the accident," he added. "How could that have happened when he was five miles ahead in another van, and his van was not involved or on the scene at the time the accident occurred?" Patton also claims that they have not been paid for the duration of the tour and have not had the medical expenses from the accident taken care of. He also said that the real reason the concert was cancelled was because of no ticket sales, not because of the accident. If the action is not taking appropiately, Patton claims he will file a lawsuit against Coolio. On the other side of the coin, Coolio's camp claims that the money has been available since June 20th, and medical and health insurance has been available for the band members if it were needed. Coolio Tour Cut Short After Van Crash Injures SixThe 18-date outing was in support of a compilation from Coolio's Crowbar Records. Rap artist Coolio canceled the remaining dates of his 18-City-Mission tour after a van accident injured two members of his backing band Friday, according to the artist's publicist. The entourage was en route to a Saturday show at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, when one of the three vans transporting the rapper and his band flipped over on Interstate 5, 40 miles north of Sacramento, according to Coolio's spokespeople. "This is the first time in my career I have had a near-death experience," Coolio said in a statement. "When the van was flipping over I thought we were history." Six members of the Grammy-winning rapper's band and stage crew were hurt in the accident involving the seven-passenger vehicle. They were taken to area hospitals. Coolio (born Artis Leon Ivey) and others in his party with lesser injuries were treated at the scene. The most serious injuries were suffered by the keyboardist and the drummer, the publicist said in a press release. "My keyboard player is only 15 and now has severe hand damage; I don't know when he'll play again," Coolio added. Coolio was touring with fellow Crowbar labelmates, including DVS and Krazy Khrome. The entourage had only completed two dates of the tour supporting the label's first release, Coolio's Crowbar Records Presents ..., which features the new Coolio song "Can You Dig It" (RealAudio excerpt) and Krazy Khrome's "Footprintz" (RealAudio excerpt), among songs by other up-and-coming Coolio discoveries, including Dy'Verse Society, Kur N'C and Rated R. The tour was a continuing effort by Coolio to find new talent for his Crowbar label. "I'm looking for real talent," Coolio said before the tour's kickoff. "There's too many people now with no talent [who are popular] -- singers that can't sing, MCs that can't rap, musicians that can't play. We're gonna do it the old-school way, the way people used to do it." The tour was to tap local MCs in every city to open shows by DVS and Krazy Khrome. Before the accident, the tour hit the Aro Space in Seattle on June 2 and the Roseland in Portland, Ore., on June 3. The rapper also continues work on his fourth full-length album, Dead Man Walkin', which will feature collaborations with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member Krayzie Bone on the song "I Don't Wanna Die" and Cypress Hill rapper B-Real on the party song "The Bump," as well as an unlikely pairing with country legend Kenny Rogers on a rap rendition of Rogers' smash hit "The Gambler." Following the accident, Coolio played shows in Los Angeles on Sunday and Phoenix on Monday, but decided to cancel the remainder of the tour, according to the statement. San Francisco concert-goers learned of the news over local radio stations; refunds for the canceled shows are available at the point of purchase, according to Tammy Martin, a Fillmore spokesperson.
The rapper, best known for such radio hits as 1994's "Fantastic Voyage"
(RealAudio excerpt) and 1995's "Gangsta's Paradise," pleaded not guilty to
a gun-possession charge April 19 in Torrance, Calif. He was accused of
carrying a concealed weapon in his vehicle in September.

They were cool with a lot of different people, Fab Five Freddy, Grandmaster Flash, etc. Blondie, Coolio, plus members of the Wu Tang Clan and Mobb Deep will perform the song on the American Music Awards, airing Monday, Jan 11. 1999!!!!

Recent AppearencesHe rapped his single "My Soul" from the album. So it seems like Coolio's next single will be "My Soul", an excellent track in my opinion. The lyrics are really deep. Read about Coolio's legal problems in Germany!
Recent Appearences IICoolio hosted Yo! MTV on Sep 3rd (European airplay date), played a bunch of videos incl. his new video "Ooh La La" (Directed by G. Thomas & Coolio) where the 40 Thevz appeares along with Ras Kass in the backseat of the low rider Coolio's driving.

On his latest, My Soul, this braided hair wonder once again rides his trunk of funk beats with the precision of a jockey. You see, Coolio is a master of providing the masses with lots of ear candy, while still maintaining his respect on the streets. Tracks like "2:21 Of Funk" and "Hit 'Em" (featuring homie Ras Kass) contain sharp lyrical barbs, while the "Gangsta's Paradise"-sounding first single , "C U When U Get There" (featuring the 40 Thevz), is designed for major radio consumption. Bow Down! According to The SOURCE hip-hop magazine, July 1997 issue. New Coolio Album 2Coolio is still working on the new album "MY SOUL". Gangsta's Paradise producer sue CoolioTROUBLE IN GANGSTA PARADISECoolio is being sued by a record producer claiming that the rapper owes him more than $400,000 for his work on the 1995 hit "Gangsta's Paradise." In the suit filed earlier last month in Los Angeles, Doug Rasheed claims that the rapper deducted the costs of acquiring samples of the song from his royalties. Rasheed also claims that he's only received a portion of his royalties. According to the suit, the royalties were supposed to be as high as 4 percent, depending on how well the record sold.
